While beautiful beaches are one reason to find places to
visit in Chile, there is so much more to this country that warrants
investigation.
1# Cathedral of San Marcos:
This is a must see for those who also enjoy visiting the
Eiffel Tower. It is always interesting to note that both of these stunning
structures were designed by the very same person. It is located in Arica.
2# Baquedano Street:
Baquedano Street is a tourist attraction where those visiting
Chile have the chance to see some old style streets, and walk around on
cobblestone while they enjoy the old western atmosphere of the region. Souvenirs can be purchased here as well and participate in
the many other activities that are part of this amazing country.
3# Zofri:
Zofri, a duty free zone in the heart of Iquique is a
favorite spot for visitors to do their shopping.
You will also find that locals hang out there as well. Cheap electronics and memory cards among other things can be
found here along with an array of other products for those who wish to save
money.
4# La Serena:
This is a very appealing city of Chile that offers much to
those searching for places to visit in Chile. The observatory here attracts
crowds of visitors every year, and for those who like museums there is an
authentic Rapa Nui Moai head on display.
5# Valparaiso:
Valparaiso is a Chilean city with a Bohemian culture that is
popular among those visiting the country.
It is also known for its colorful houses and marvelous views
of the seaside with its beaches. Plaza Echaurren-Serrano Street, Ex Carcel, and La Matriz
Church are among the interesting places to visit in Chile that can be found in
this city. The famous poet, Pablo Neruda made his home at La Sebastiana.
6# Chuquicamata:
Chuquicamata may be a dying town now but it was once quite
beautiful. History buffs will be interested in knowing that there are guided
tours available to visit the mine that was operated here. Your guide will help you to understand the uses of the
equipment and vehicles that are still on the site.
7# Vina Del Mar:
Vina Del Mar has an incredible coastline which is a popular
destination location for those who like to bask in the sun along pristine
beaches. However, you may not want to go into the waters of these beaches. Delicious native dishes can be enjoyed as you peruse the
shops of the downtown area, and you will be able to make your souvenir
purchases here as well. You might want to schedule your visit for some time in
February and enjoy the festivals that are available then.
8# Parque Metropolitano:
This is an enormous park situated in Santiago de Chile. For places to see in Chile, you will not want to leave this
one out. From this park you will be able to get a great view of the beautiful
city of Santiago. You can also get a glimpse of the Andes from here as well. Cable cars are available to take you up to the summit if you
wish or hire a car and drive yourself. If you are athletic you may even want to
hike your way up to the top and enjoy the zoo as well as the botanical garden
that is there as well.
9# Santiago Centro:
Santiago Centro is one of the places to visit in Chile but
be sure that you keep your purse or wallet close by because there are thieves
along the way that would like to help themselves to what is inside of them.
10# Rancagua:
Rancagua should be included in your visit to Chile
especially if you like to indulge in hot baths and natural hot spring waters. Rancaua’s Reserva Nacional Rio Los Cipreses provides a
wonderful camping experience after you have enjoyed your time spend in the
thermal baths. Places to visit in Chile should also include the mining town
of Sewell.
There many, many more places to visit in Chile so be sure
that when you go that you have a wealth of information to draw from prior to
your visit.
