Going on holiday is something that most of us look forward
to as a special treat to relax after a prolonged period of hard work, whether
that work is at school, university or at an actual job.
Picking a destination for your getaway can often be a bit
difficult, as there are simply so many options. This decision comes down to two
things:
Beach Holiday
Obviously everyone would like to go on the holiday of their
dreams and return home fresh and ready to undertake another prolonged period of
hard work with the required energy. Personally, I have always dreamed of
catching a flight to the Caribbean to experience this beautiful part of the
world’s crystal clear beaches and loose diamonds with a fresh fruit drink. Now
that I think about it, I can give you a more specific picture. I would
definitely be lying back on the beach with one of those coconut drinks that
literally come in a cut-open coconut.
Reality
Let me come back to reality. This holiday would be extremely
expensive and out of reach for the majority of people, including myself. But
this is not to say that amazing holidays are all out of reach. In fact, you
would be surprised at how many low-budget trips are readily available for
people, especially across Europe. You often do not even need to leave your own
country, as several domestic destinations are worth your while.
While I was living in England, I was surprised at simply how
many places you could visit. I bet you have probably never considered the
English seaside as an attractive summer destination, but if you live in London,
this is definitely a fantastic option. The English and Welsh coasts have a very
particular charm of their own, and offer a vibe that you are unlikely to
experience anywhere else. Beaches in nordic countries are usually discarded
because they are thought of as being in cold countries, but weather-permitting,
you would have a great time here.
One of the best things about the English coast is Cornish
clotted cream ice creams. The dairy in this part of England is outstandingly
tastey, and is something that you simply cannot afford to miss trying. There
are also several fruit flavours to add a dash of excitement to the creamy
flavour. I have to admit that swimming in the English Sea is an experience in
of itself, and not necessarily an amazing one. Although on very hot days a dip
can be incredibly great, most of the time the weather imposes itself and
determines that you will be extremely cold in the water!
Caravan Holiday
A caravan holiday is a great choice for the English coast,
but there are plenty of other places you can go, such as the New Forest, where
there are wild horses and you are relatively near the sea anyway. Another
option would be to take the caravan down to France through the Eurostar or on a
ferry, although you could also decide to go without a vehicle and get to know
the country by train. Paris is a stunningly beautiful city that is rich in
culture and history, where you can try some of the entire world’s finest
cuisine, which you would accompany with a superb selection of wines.
Another option would be to visit Holland or Belgium, which
are both quite close, although I would also like to recommend looking at cheap
travel websites that tend to offer amazingly low deals on budget airlines.
Through this method you can reach great destinations in Spain and Italy, so as
to get a little bit warmer and experience the Mediterranean.
At the end of the day, your preferences are what will
predominantly determine what choice you make, considering that in this
globalized world, your options have been intensely broadened. Budget airlines
offering return flights for as little as 20 euros implies that the world really
is your oyster. What you must ensure is that you set up a stress-free relaxing
trip, so that regardless of how much money you spend, you do not feel that you
have wasted time or money. When I go on holiday I try to keep in mind that I am
doing this for myself and my family.
