Jaisalmer, also known as the golden city is situated in the
Indian state of Rajasthan. The fairs and festivals of Rajasthan display the
rich Rajasthani culture. Some of the major festivals celebrated here are Holi,
Diwali, Ram Navami, Gangaur, Dussehra and Eid. The Desert festival of Jaisalmer
is one of the most celebrated fiestas in Rajasthan. It is a 3-day festival of
Rajasthani rich culture, tradition arts and crafts, which is especially
designed for the tourists. It is organized and sponsored by the Rajasthan state
tourism Corporation. This Corporation is a body that is found to attract more
tourists especially foreign and has since then become the most famous festival
in India.
Every year, this festival comes between the ends of January
to beginning of February. The Desert festival Jaisalmer 2018 is going to held
for three days from February 23 to 25. It will take place at golden Sam’s sand
dunes, which is just 40 kms far away from Jaisalmer city. Desert festival is all about camel races,
puppeteers, jugglers, and turban tying competitions, Camel Polo, colorful
traditional dresses and many more. It is a complete bundle of fun and enjoy for
3 days. Many competitions like Mr. Desert contest that will happen add more
excitement and enjoy to the festival.
This major Rajasthan festival is a grand display of music
and dances, performing arts, handicraft, laughter and joy and several other
desert cultures. The local people and villagers participate in the camel dances
and also compete in various camel games like race, acrobats and tug of war.
Gair swaying and Fire dancers to conventional tunes are the important part of
