Romania is a nature’s heaven with diverse culture, uncouth
beauty, traditional villages and enticing castles. It has lush green forests,
reserves, glacier lakes, world’s wonders and not to forget the very well known
and most sought place to visit – the Black Sea. The rural people of Romania are
very friendly and find it delightful to serve help of any form to the tourists.
At the same time, urban society of Romania is warm and hospitable with an
inherent sense of humor. The places to not miss while in Romania are as listed
below.
01. Painted Monasteries
of Bucovina:
The north-eastern region of Romania is occupied by the most
beautiful city of Bucovina. The most treasured beauty of Romania is the painted
Monasteries of Bucovina. The illuminated and daubed exterior of these
monasteries is the main attraction of Romania. These monasteries were built in
15th and 16th centuries. The purpose of building the monasteries was to put an
imagination of the Bible and the lives of Orthodox saints in images. The
outstanding work of art, stunning blend of colors and flamboyant outline of the
monasteries brews perfectly with the surrounding panorama. The monasteries are
named Arbore, Humor, Voronet, Moldovita, Sucevita and Putna. There are medieval
churches too that make this place extravagantly splendid.
02. Danube Delta:
The second largest delta of Europe is the Danube Delta whose
water flows into the Black Sea. This delta starts from the Black forest in
Germany and ends in the Black Sea. This place is well known for its wildlife
and the copious species of birds that flock here. The mode of transportation to
travel through this beautiful channel of water is a boat or kayak or canoes.
One can explore fishing and bird watching by simply hiring a small boat.
Renting a boat for discovering the backwaters is also available.
03. Transfagarasan Road:
The Transylvanian Alps; renowned as the highest mountains of
Romania can be witnessed by travelling through the Transfagarasan Road. This
road is dramatically paved with diverse elevation and S shaped curves. This
road leads to the most vivacious medieval old town named Sibiu. Also known as
the cultural capital of Romania, Sibiu is home to cathedrals and monuments from
middle ages. Sibiu brings in a blend of culture as well as modernism. The place
is full of narrow lanes, outdoor cafes, Great Square that leads to palaces and
cobblestone streets with vivid homes.
04. Brașov:
The favored destination of Central Romania is the Brasov
County which is home to Brans Castle and Rasnov Castle. This place is
surrounded by forest hills on either side and one would see a huge board that
has “Brasov” written exactly like “Hollywood”. The major attractions of Brasov
are the Council Square, St Nicholas Church, Brasov Fortress and the Black
church – which is a must-visit. The Bran Castle holds up an exciting story of
Dracula which can be experienced and witnessed live only when you visit the
place. Standing high on a 200 ft rock, the castle is easily accessible and takes
you through narrow passages, staircases and underground channels.
