Car Travel
The majority of travelers to Vancouver Island like to drive.
Mainlanders reach their destination via BC Ferries terminals, Departure Bay,
Duke Point in Nanaimo and Swartz Bay (for the people of Victoria). Car travel
time can differ depending on your stay at BC Ferries. A one-way reservation
costs about $15 (in addition to regular fees). The highway is straight and wide
from Victoria and Nanaimo.
Bus & Public
Transportation
Tofino Bus offers affordable bus travel to Tofino (via BC
Ferries) from Victoria, Nanaimo, Ucluelet, Vancouver, Coombs and Port Alberni
from Parksville. Contract bus services are also available. Driving time to
Tofino from Vancouver Island is around 7 hours (including BC Ferries trip). The
IslandLink Bus and the Greyhound Canada Bus Lines provide services between
several islands and Tofino. The local Beach Bus drives once daily but in summer
twice daily between Tofino and Long Beach and also from all points in Pacific
Rim.
Air Travel
Tofino airport is located 11km south of town. There is both
commercial and private airplane access to Tofino Airport. Travelers can reserve
a flight to numerous airports. Daily scheduled flights are available from
Vancouver International Airport, Victoria International Airport, Comox Valley
Airport, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Contract flights are
accessible through Atleo River Air and Tofino Air Service.
